In Spain, only a wine that uses fruit of the highest quality, crafted under the most stringent vinification practices, and aged for an extended period of time in both barrel & bottle are allowed to bear the distinction of being a "Gran Reserva"...and ours is no different. Tempranillo is Spain's viticultural gift to the world of wine, and thanks to the soils and climate of Westside Paso, this varietal is just as at home here as it is in the Old Country of the Spanish countryside. 

We've sourced the highest quality Tempranillo & Graciano grapes from anywhere in the United States, and carefully mentored them on their journey from grape juice to wine, and finally allowing their fleding beauty to mature in 100% new French oak barriques for a full 3 years, ensuring that the complexities of the fruit and the nuances of the oak become inseparbly integrated. We believe this wine is an impeccable representation of who we are and what we do, and will entice the plate, exhilerate the nose, and intrigue the soul now for many years to come, should you choose to cellar this stallion of a wine.

About: No one could have predicted that the Graciano varietal, which is front and center in this bottle, would have ever made it to Paso Robles. Due to a mistake in a vine nursery a half a world away, wine growers in Paso thought that they were working with a particular clone of Mourvèdre. When the ampelographers (grape scientists) eventually realized this grape wasn’t Mourvèdre at all, we embraced it for what it was: a serendipitous mistake. We were (and are) thankful to have this special grape as part of what makes Paso Robles a special and unique place to grow wine grapes. We pass this special wine off to you to enjoy, as a way of saying “Gracias!” for supporting Bodega de Edgar and the wonderful wines of Paso Robles.

Blend: 75% Graciano, 25% Carignan

Tasting Notes: Deep purple-hued, with lots strong aromas of mulberry, violets, and chocolate and a touch of cedar. It’s medium to full-bodied and has ample floral, spice, and blue fruit nuances, a gorgeous texture, and outstanding length. The high acidity and tannin structure will allow you to lay this wine down for a decade.

A vibrant nose filled with muddled strawberries, rose petals, and dark chocolate that develop further on the palate, showing a balance of acidity and fine-grained tannins. Bright flavors of pomegranate, Bing cherries and ripe raspberry. Enjoyable as a young wine, but this exemplary Carignan blend will evolve over the next eight years.

47% Garnacha, 32% Tempranillo 21% Carignan

Aromas of fresh lavender sprigs and crushed violet petals, savory herbs & resinous cedar fill the glass on the 2019 Tarragona. The palate reveals warm cherry pie, fresh pipe tobacco, saddle leather, pomegranate seed, and a hint of cola. The vibrant finish lingers with blood oranges and ground cinnamon. Drink now through 2027.

E2 was the first blend I ever made under the label Bodega de Edgar. It represents my favorite varietal, Grenache and my wife Erika's favorite varietal, Syrah.
